Community safety, built on connection.

The Deep Ellum Foundation has launched the Deep Ellum Community Engagers (DECE) Pilot Program: a community-based public safety initiative focused on proactive engagement, violence prevention, and trust-building during peak nightlife hours.

In partnership with Learn With Train LLC, trained Community Engagers are present in Deep Ellum to build relationships, de-escalate tensions, connect young people to resources, and help create a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.

How it works

Community Engagers are trained credible messengers—visible, approachable team members who engage with people before situations escalate.

The pilot operates from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night through early August 2026.
